Trains through the grass

Trains through grass
We’ll you’ve forgotten all the reasons
That you even came to this town
Can’t remember why, only when and how
And you wonder where did all the hours go
When the sun didn’t set and wind didn’t blow
And the days, they just went on for days and days and days
And you’re life and it’s low standards
left you livin high all the time
Because everyone’s their own Holy Ghost
Just that once, in their life time
And there’s a train
Through the grass
And the grass goes calm as the train goes past
But the grass, well it still hums along
Long after the train is long gone
I guess you’ve got to figure it out some day
Am I more like the grass, or am I more like a train
And what of all the countries that we dream
All those places that we’d rather be
As life really happens there, all that differently
But this life, it’s such a strange gift
You don’t ask for it, you just receive it
And then you accept or reject all the settings and the scenes
And there’s a train
Through the grass
And the grass goes calm as the train goes past
But the grass, well it still hums along
Long after the train is long gone
I guess you’ve got to figure it out some day
Am I more like the grass, or am I more like a train

Uncanny Valley USA

Uncanny valley USA
Who holds this world in the palm of there hands
Devices explode and their rules they expand
So remember all the lovers that you knew
And how their laughter it would shatter
All the glass on the cabinets
Where you kept all the rules
For everything that you thought ever mattered
And breakthroughs are attained
As intelligences fade
All those muscles they’ll maybe ruin
All the belief system’s reign
So remember all the friends that you knew
And how they looked into your faces
And then something replaces
That lonely existence that you’d almost grown to face
On your own
Here in Uncanny valley USA
Where it looks so familiar but some people they know better
Uncanny you inevitable fate
When you get lost into this world
Oh I hope you don’t get lost into this world
Because there is simply no replacing you
Thresholds of perception, people using the as weapons
Even the simplest unknown is going to face its own extinction
So remember all the wildness that you knew
Before the future’s they’ll unfold
And the stories they’re told
That left everybody guessing how these structures still implode
But I guess some things, they’re still okay
Here in Uncanny valley USA
Where it looks so familiar but some people they know better
Uncanny valley you inevitable fate
When you get lost into this world
Well just hope you don’t get lost into this world
There’s just simply no replacing you

hummingbirds and moths
03:22
|
|||
We’ll we could never settle
On one town or another
Lights in the different patterns
But the fights they never changed
And the memories of progress
We’ll they were always just hanging around
You could see em out on the sidewalks
Of these old beat down towns
When Baltimore was purple
And Pennsylvania was always grey
And the sun you know it never shined
When we crossed that state line
And you got born into this air
And you’d grown so used to it somehow
The breeze of indecision well it just
Blew in with the clouds
And it often made me wonder about
The cools and the greys
Did they make your dreams
all that much smaller
Or had they always been that way
You see, I could never tell
Because we had such good ways of hiding
And in that old beat down
Even the birds they stopped flying
Yeah even the birds they stopped flying
And now the hummingbirds and the moths
We’ll they fill these days and nights
And they move at such similar speeds
But at such different times
And there’s a heat that could blow away
All of the wings, of the world
But they won’t burn out the memory
Of that Pennsylvania girl
Or that Pennsylvania line

Strange adventures
These outward eyes on the hills they’ll wait
Where the trestles bridge
Meets the valley’s bone
When that dream of expansion
Meets that broken road
And you won’t know enough
To leave well enough alone
When your eyes fall light on the western ridge
A light that glows as it turns into night
And when you’re own horizon line
We’ll it starts to disappear
Will you eyes see dreams and will your hearts see fear?
Will your hearts see fear?
Because strange adventures they comfort creatures all the time
And nobody’s ever gonna tell you just what a heart’s been through
And almost all the creatures featured
In these stories well they loved adventure
But time it always comes to prove all wounds
Yeah time, it always comes to prove all wounds
What a world, what a world we teach
Upon the inheritance of these great mysteries
But who really knows the lines, when these mysteries sublime
They evade the answers that we seek eternally
I think Denis he was a wild wild heart
Tried and true, searching the colors
That the corners sold
And when he asked that final question
Every mystery remained
As if they were tethered to this world
With his rope
Oh with his rope
Because strange adventures they comfort creatures all the time
And nobody’s ever gonna tell you just what a heart’s been through
And almost all the creatures featured
In these stories well they loved adventure
But time it always comes to prove all wounds
Yeah time, it always comes to prove all wounds
Yeah time, it always comes to prove all wounds

Time stood still
03:34
|
|||
Woke up late, pillow felt great
It was better than motion
Little ponds trade for oceans
And you know you ought to move
But what can you say
Motivation was your oldest friend
Seems like they just, up and moved away
Now you’re sitting outside
Trying to let the sunshine fool you
Dogs ain’t barking,
They’re just fooling you too
And you can’t hear a thing
But a house fly’s wings
Well shit …baby if this house could fly
You and me, we would be leaving tonight
Because life’s just like a dome
Of colored glass and rings
Painting that great canvas of eternity
And the answers we make
Turn that dome to grey
How many times must a truth be told
Before the game turns a rule into gold
Great feelings they aren’t new
They’re Just so old and true
Wrapped up in the ages
of the pictures and pages
Feelings so fresh
To sensations of stress
We’ll what’s new
That’s just what you can’t feel
Because nothings hurts you
Until you know it
To be real
That’s why the worst of hands require
The newest deals
In these years when time stands still

Conditional Blooming
04:11
|
|||
This is where we’ll exclaim
Fair thee well,
hope the futures bring you no pain
When these mysteries of love fall to ruin
And after these desert towns bid us adieu
Lay your head on my chest
Well it might be the very last time
I’ll see you again in the cities I’m sure
But we both know it won’t be the same
We weren’t wasting our precious time
Both got convinced
that the time must have been right
Under these street lights
where the night creatures come to dance
Two hearts got left wide open
Trying to take one more chance
It’s conditional blooming
Life’s complications,
always leading to new situations
And happiness maybe it’s looming
Because these new situations
they’re always our warmest destinations
So let’s just have one more kiss
And remember all that we gave
From the taste on our lips
And how we sent out these bodies whole
When you forgive all your fears
It leaves you feeling like gold
It’s just conditional blooming

States Like These
04:02
|
|||
It’s days like these, it’s states like these
door does a dance called the AC breeze
and the movement is so slow
that your pants hardly know
that they’re dancing at all
We landed on, mars again
It’s something that you might like to discuss
With all your friends
About the places that we’ve already seen
And how returning to ‘em only breaks the good
And all the bad memories
While the accidents of lust, they’ll always erase the will of impossibility
It’s the underdogs versus the Wall Street kings
The passions of youth versus the poisons of all the old energies
And in these days and in these states
Are we seeing clearly
Sometimes these days seem just like a trap
Well it’s days like these, it’s mistakes just like these
When you’re born a metaphor, you might just end up that same analogy
But the pictures they’re so slow
They hardly even show
Just how you could dance through it all
So don’t let the energies of your youth be exposed as a fly on the wall
(Chorus)

Three Rivers
03:46
|
|||
Three rivers
Till soil here, get sunburned here
Feel better here, when you’re naked at night
Don’t you be so scared of the dark here
Or all the noise that it leaves behind
In the New England
Watching the stars at night
they’re lit up and they’re trembling
Remember those stars
and how you forgot them
And how you used to read all about them
And how those machines that found them
They were just finding larger problems oh
There’s thunder all kinds around
But the lightning
it won’t seem to come down
And the sky just sits like one black cloud
There’s got to be a hole
For a whole world to be found
Well the rain it’s quit
Yeah it’s over now
Listen for those sounds of work
To rise up from the ground
If you quit breathing and you you don’t make one single sound
You could hear that sun as it builds up the morning sky
You might think, you’re living in a dream world

Two Steps from our Eyes
03:36
|
|||
Come go with me
And we’ll go for a ride
To lake shores or canyons
A hundreds feet high
Nobody knows where we’ll get to tonight
We’ll probably just lay there
Until dreams start dancing
Two steps
From our eyes
Yeah we passed on the money
That was passing around
But maybe there’s a better life
When you make do without
It seems like our feet
We’ll they never touched the ground
But you don’t know what you’re leaving
Until you loose all the good things
That you found
Maybe we could find a life
That we both could afford
A nice place and a good job
Who could ask for more
Get sick and tired
of chasing these silly dreams
We’d be laughing
Instead of getting mad
Over the silly little things
But in the end between
We gotta sleep beneath the trees
Two sleeping bags
And a dog at our feet
Living like this sure makes a body tired
Sweet dreams I can see them
They’re dancing
Two steps From our eyes
